About This Role:

The Counsel is part of the Legal team, and reports to our General Counsel. As our Counsel, you will be responsible for all things product, privacy, and partnerships from a legal perspective. Our Counsel will partner cross-functionally and internationally.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Drive key areas of our legal priorities, including product, privacy and partnerships
  • Develop, implement, and refine external and internal privacy policies, processes, standards, and guidelines, including data lifecycle management
  • Collaborate with Compliance to spearhead Binance.US' compliance with global privacy laws, including CCPA
  • Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for new products and initiatives, aiming to identify and mitigate privacy risks
  • Offer expert legal advice on data protection to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring product teams, engineering, and management are well-informed.
  • Take an “all hands on deck” approach to their work by leaning into multiple projects in order to drive outcomes
  • Move projects along with a scrappy, no-ego mindset
  • Quickly learn our dynamic business and our evolving needs as a means of unblocking stuck items and pushing things to completion
  • Analyze potential legal risks and regulatory requirements for new products and technologies
  • Help scale the legal organization by developing innovative processes to support the fast-moving Engineering, Product, and Design teams
  • Help draft public-facing descriptions of new products and technologies

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • 3-5 years experience as a practicing attorney
  • 2+ years of experience within a law firm setting
  • Experience across a range of legal disciplines - privacy, consumer protection, payments, and IP
  • Startup and crypto experience a plus
  • JD required

Salary & Other Disclosures:

The starting pay range for this role is between USD$150,000 to USD$165,000 per year for all remote locations based in the United States. The actual base pay will vary, and is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skill sets, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change.
