About This Role:

Under the direction of our Associate General Counsel, Product & Regulatory, you will play an immediate and direct role in all things regulatory and product from a legal perspective. You will also support commercial transactional work as we offer new products and grow in new markets. You will partner cross-functionally and internationally.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Analyze potential legal risks and regulatory requirements for new products and technologies

  • Lead the regulatory licensing process in specific jurisdictions and project manage other teams to obtain key licenses

  • Prepare responses to regulatory inquiries from FINRA, NFA, and state securities regulators

  • Detail product and marketing compliance requirements for retail-user facing securities broker-dealers, introducing brokers, futures commissions merchants and similar regulated entities

  • Outline and oversee regular periodic reporting requirements

  • Interpret laws and other compliance obligations into requirements for Compliance, Operations, Product, and Engineering teams

  • Assist with civil, litigation or regulatory matters and supervise outside counsel as needed

  • Remain up-to-date on relevant finance, payments and digital currency space to ensure an ongoing ability to provide sound marketing compliance advice

  • Move projects along with a scrappy, no-ego mindset

  • Quickly learn our dynamic business and our evolving needs as a means of unblocking stuck items and pushing things to completion

  • Help draft public-facing descriptions of new products and technologies

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • 4+ years experience as a practicing attorney

  • 2+ years of experience within a law firm setting

  • Experience in engaging with regulators, including state officials/attorney generals, CFTC, SEC, OCC or financial regulators.

  • Experience drafting and negotiating fintech, financial services and tech agreements.

  • Experience advising financial institutions, including broker dealers, on risk mitigation across financial products.

  • Startup experience (tech, crypto a plus)

Salary & Other Disclosures:

The starting pay range for this role is between USD $180,000 and $200,000 for all remote locations. The actual base pay will vary, and is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skill sets, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change.
