Cerebras Systems builds the world's largest AI chip, 56 times larger than GPUs. Our novel wafer-scale architecture provides the AI compute power of dozens of GPUs on a single chip, with the programming simplicity of a single device. This approach allows Cerebras to deliver industry-leading training and inference speeds and empowers machine learning users to effortlessly run large-scale ML applications, without the hassle of managing hundreds of GPUs or TPUs.

Cerebras' current customers include top model labs, global enterprises, and cutting-edge AI-native startups. OpenAI recently announced a multi-year partnership with Cerebras, to deploy 750 megawatts of scale, transforming key workloads with ultra high-speed inference.

Thanks to the groundbreaking wafer-scale architecture, Cerebras Inference offers the fastest Generative AI inference solution in the world, over 10 times faster than GPU-based hyperscale cloud inference services. This order of magnitude increase in speed is transforming the user experience of AI applications, unlocking real-time iteration and increasing intelligence via additional agentic computation.

The Role

Cerebras is seeking a Director of Data Center Construction to lead the execution of white space fit-out programs across colocation (colo) environments and managing the overall schedule for our datacenter builds. This role is responsible for rapidly deploying high-performance AI infrastructure within third-party data centers, ensuring speed, quality, and cost discipline. You will own the delivery of entire data center construction project, working closely with colo providers, contractors, and internal engineering teams to bring capacity online fast and reliably. This is a hands-on leadership role requires extreme ownership, fast decision-making, and bias for action.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of data center sites.

• Lead all aspects of data hall buildout including racks, containment, power distribution, cooling integration, and network readiness.

• Act as the primary interface with colo providers to align on base build readiness, SLAs, and integration points.

• Drive Vendors, GCs, and trade partners to execute fit-out scope on aggressive timelines.

• Establish construction standards, playbooks, and repeatable deployment models for colo-based builds.

• Ensure seamless coordination between base building and tenant improvement scopes.

• Manage cost, schedule, and quality across a portfolio of concurrent deployments.

• Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays to capacity delivery.

• Lead site-level execution teams and ensure strong on-the-ground presence where required.

• Partner with procurement and supply chain to ensure timely delivery of long-lead equipment.

• Implement real-time reporting and dashboards for executive visibility.

• Drive innovation in deployment speed including modularization and prefabrication approaches.

• Establish and manage strategic relationships with colocation providers.

• Define and enforce technical and delivery requirements for base building readiness.

• Ensure clear demarcation of responsibilities between landlord and tenant scopes.

• Hold providers accountable to schedule commitments, power delivery milestones, and facility readiness.

• Resolve integration issues between colo infrastructure and Cerebras systems.

• Negotiate scope, timelines, and change orders with providers and contractors.

Skills & Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in mission-critical construction, preferably in data centers.

• Deep experience delivering white space fit-out projects within colocation environments.

• Strong understanding of power, cooling, and rack-level infrastructure in high-density environments.

• Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale deployments simultaneously.

• Experience working with EPC firms, general contractors, and specialty trades.

• Strong commercial acumen including contract negotiation and cost control.

• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment.

• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
