Role and Responsibilities:

Collaboration with the Product Team and the Customer

  • Extensive experience in managing and maintaining Cohesity clusters.
  • Proficient in safeguarding VMware virtual machines utilizing tags for efficient backup and recovery.
  • Experienced in configuring and protecting MSSQL databases, including standalone instances and Availability Always Groups (AAGs).
  • Experienced in configuring and protecting Oracle databases, specifically Virtual Real Application Clusters (RACs).
  • Experienced in configuring and performing backups of Oracle databases using Recovery Manager (RMAN).
  • Experienced in backing up databases using native methods.
  • Experienced in backing up Network-Attached Storage (NAS) systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot backup failures and resolve performance issues.
  • Skilled in documenting processes and creating detailed diagrams for backup solutions and procedures.

Understanding Requirements: The consultant will work with the product team to thoroughly understand the specific Oracle database features.

Technical Assessment: The consultant will perform a technical assessment to ensure that the features align with the current product capabilities and are feasible within the given infrastructure.

Configuration: Working closely with the product team and FedEx, the consultant will configure the new Cohesity Oracle adapter. This includes setting up advanced database options for recovery, tuning performance parameters, and ensuring that all configurations are according to Cohesity’s best practices.

Implementation Planning: Based on the requirements and the technical assessment, the consultant will create a detailed implementation plan. This plan will outline the steps needed to test and configure the Oracle databases.

Testing and Validation: The consultant will lead the testing phase, working closely with both the product team and the FedEx. Includes setting up test environments, executing test cases, and validating.Any issues identified during testing will be addressed promptly to ensure a smooth implementation.

Key Activities and Deliverables

Documentation:

  • The consultant will produce comprehensive documentation, including configuration guides, test plans.

Conduct Workshops:

  • Conduct workshops and meetings with the FedEx to gather detailed requirements and expectations regarding Oracle backup and recoveries.
  • Identifying use cases and performance benchmarks that the new features need to meet.

Project Updates:

  • Provide regular updates to all stakeholders, including progress reports and issue logs.

Success Criteria

  • The successful testing and validation of the Oracle adapter features.

Final Handover:

  • Upon successful configuration and testing of the Cohesity’s Oracle adapter features, the consultant will conduct a final handover. This includes a walkthrough of the implemented features, documentation, and a review session to address any final queries or concerns.
