The Licensing Services SME Lead is responsible for the accuracy, consistency, and continuous improvement of SME deliverables that support global license compliance operations across Cohesity's product suite, primarily NetBackup and Data Protect.

This role ensures tight coordination with the Licensing Services (LS) Ops team, product organization, and other key stakeholders, while setting quality benchmarks, driving process improvements, and maintaining alignment with Cohesity's licensing model and roadmap.

The SME Lead also plays a critical part in developing team capability through cross-training and technical mentoring.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME HERE

  • Act as a liaison between Licensing Services Ops and SME functions to ensure delivery requirements and reporting tasks are met

  • Maintain alignment with the Product team on licensing rules, entitlement logic, and product roadmap changes

  • Drive and implement a quality assurance (QA) review process across all SME-generated deliverables

  • Lead the evolution and continuous improvement of SME methodologies, templates, and review practices

  • Provide SME-level inputs on license migration planning and support (e.g., CP2CS transitions)

  • Coordinate cross-functional training and knowledge sharing within the SME group

  • Oversee SLA adherence, output quality, and completeness across SME contributions

  • Own stakeholder communication for deliverables requiring SME involvement

  • Track requirement vs. delivery metrics and maintain audit-readiness across outputs

  • Manage SME participation in reporting cycles such as weekly/monthly leadership dashboards and ad hoc license reports

  • Guide SME contribution to operational reporting like GST Hygiene Reports, Odyssey comparisons, and ELP dashboards

  • Support consistency of data interpretation in entitlement mapping, duplication logic, and virtual workload identification

WE’D LOVE TO TALK TO YOU IF YOU HAVE MANY OF THE FOLLOWING

  • B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in software licensing, compliance, or product entitlement analysis, including 3+ years of leadership experience.

  • In-depth understanding of Cohesity’s licensing models and key tools (e.g., NetBackup, Usage Insights)

  • Strong documentation, QA, and stakeholder management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement initiatives

  • Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating across teams and regions

  • High level of ownership, analytical thinking, and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support decision making.
