Senior Director, Performance Engineering (Data Protection & Security Product)
The Senior Director of Performance Engineering will lead the performance strategy and execution for our flagship Data Protection & Security product. This executive role is responsible for defining, driving, and ensuring the highest levels of product performance, scalability, and reliability to support our enterprise customers' critical security needs. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep technical expertise in performance engineering, a strong background in data protection and security solutions, and a proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME HERE:
Define and own the performance engineering vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Data Protection & Security product portfolio.
Lead and scale a cross-functional team of performance engineers, architects, and analysts to deliver robust, high-performing solutions.
Establish and enforce best practices for performance testing, benchmarking, profiling, and tuning across the product lifecycle.
Collaborate closely with Product Management, Security, Development, and Operations teams to ensure performance is embedded in all stages of design and delivery.
Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement for performance-related incidents and customer escalations.
Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service-level objectives (SLOs) to meet or exceed customer and regulatory requirements.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging threats, and technology advancements in data protection, security, and performance engineering.
Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.
Represent the organization in customer, partner, and industry forums as a subject matter expert in performance engineering for security products.
WE'D LOVE TO TALK TO YOU IF YOU HAVE MANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in performance engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the cybersecurity or data protection domain.
Expert knowledge of performance modeling, large-scale distributed systems, and cloud-native architecture (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Strong understanding of data protection protocols, encryption, authentication, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Proven experience with performance testing tools, profiling utilities, and monitoring solutions (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, New Relic, Grafana).
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to influence and partner with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Experience with SaaS product delivery and DevSecOps practices.
Background in machine learning, analytics, or advanced monitoring for security performance optimization.
Published thought leadership or participation in industry standards bodies or working groups.
Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support decision-making
Disclosure Pursuant to Applicable State Equal Pay Transparency Laws - This position has a starting pay range as listed below. Actual salary depends upon many factors, including a candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience, location, and salary expectations, and therefore a starting salary at the low end, high end, or even above the stated range may be offered. This position may also be eligible for bonus compensation, commission (if in a sales function), and/or equity grants. Additionally, full-time employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits framework, including health and wellness benefits, vacation, paid holidays and refresh days, 401(k) retirement plan, life and disability insurance coverages, and other benefits the Company may offer from time to time.
Pay Range :
The compensation noted above is based on an annualized hourly rate assuming normal full-time employment.
