Role Overview

Flock Freight is looking for a Software Engineer to design, build, and operate the integrations and automation that power Flock Freight’s internal business systems. You will own the integrations and tooling layer across our corporate system (Google Workspace, Netsuite, Celigo, Glean and related integrations), writing production code in GitHub alongside other engineers.

The emphasis is on engineering reusable patterns -- Infrastructure as Code, policy-as-code, and standardized workflows -- so that routine administration and Tier 2+ escalation shift from manual work to automated, observable processes. AI enablement is a core part of the role, focused on internal efficiency: ticket deflection, faster onboarding/offboarding, back-office throughput, and knowledge management.

This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and business operations, enabling reliable data flow and automation across finance, revenue, and internal productivity systems.

Team/Department Overview: Infrastructure Engineering Team – Reporting to the Senior Director Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Systems & Automation:

  • Build and maintain integrations across corporate platforms (NetSuite, Coda, Glean, Google Workspace, Okta, and others) using APIs, webhooks, scripts, and low-code tools such as Okta Workflows, Coda automations, and JSM automation rules.
  • Identify high-value automation opportunities — including access changes, ticket triage, and recurring back-office processes, and deliver workflow and AI-driven solutions.
  • Instrument critical automation with metrics and logging so its impact on cost, time, and CSAT is measurable and can be reported in IT/BizApps reviews.

Systems Administration & Infrastructure:

  • Administer corporate SaaS platforms, endpoints, and networks, serving as the Tier 2+ escalation point for complex identity, access, device, and connectivity issues.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot office networks (VPN, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi) and participate in patching, backups, incident response, and disaster recovery exercises.

Identity, Access & Security:

  • Implement and maintain joiner/mover/leaver workflows in Okta using group-based access and least-privilege patterns.
  • Partner with Security and Infrastructure teams on alert response (CrowdStrike, phishing) and SOC 2 posture alignment.

Knowledge & Collaboration:

  • Create and maintain runbooks, playbooks, and knowledge-base content; use AI tools to improve self-service and ticket quality.
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance, RevOps, Operations, People, and Engineering to turn business requirements into practical, well-documented technical solutions.

Qualifications

Technical:

  • 5+ years of experience in internal systems engineering, integrations, or business systems development(e.g., Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Coda, Glean)
  • Experience administering and integrating finance/ERP systems (ideally NetSuite), including designing/maintaining integrations with upstream/downstream systems (e.g., Salesforce, Celigo, EDI, TriumphPay), and supporting quote-to-cash, AR, billing, collections, and finance reporting in partnership with Finance.
  • Proficiency with APIs, scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash), Git/GitHub workflows (PRs, code review, CI/CD), and low-code automation platforms.

Delivery & Attributes:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills with the ability to manage incidents and project work in parallel.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and tying technology decisions to clear business outcomes.
  • Proactive learner who stays current on enterprise IT and AI tooling and consistently looks for ways to simplify and automate.

    • Compensation
The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $176,000. This reflects typical earning potential in this role based on market data and individual factors including skill sets, experience, and geographic location. In addition to this salary, full-time employees are eligible for an equity package and competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Flock Freight.

Life & Benefits of the Flock:

      • Hybrid Work Model: As an organization we value in-office collaboration, working cross-functionally, and winning together. Through scheduled in-office and work from home days, we are able to work more efficiently and collaboratively.
      • 401(k): We know Flock may just be a stepping stone in your epic journey, but we want to be sure you’re setting your future self up for success!
      • Medical, Dental & Vision: Generous coverage for employees and dependents. Both HMO and PPO options provided.
