About Fortanix:

In today's world, where data spreads across various clouds and devices, traditional security measures aren't enough. Businesses need a dynamic approach to defend against constant cyber threats and ensure agile data security. Fortanix leads the way in data-centric cybersecurity for hybrid multicloud environments, using advanced cryptography, encryption, and confidential AI solutions.

As data breaches become more frequent and traditional defenses fall short, we focus on data exposure management to keep your information safe. Our unified data security platform addresses vulnerabilities in hybrid multicloud environments, defends against threats, and makes it easier to discover, assess, and fix data exposure risks. Whether implementing a Zero Trust model or preparing for the post-quantum computing era, we help businesses worldwide protect their most sensitive data, wherever it is.

Our commitment to solving the world’s toughest data security challenges has earned Fortanix multiple Cybersecurity Excellence and Innovation Awards, as well as recognition from industry giants such as Microsoft, Intel, ServiceNow, and Snowflake.

Our team includes industry leaders and cryptography experts, creating a culture of trust, innovation and collaboration where every voice is valued. Recognized as a Great Place to Work, we're looking for passionate individuals to help us shape the future of data security and work towards a safer digital future.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our Infrastructure team, building the systems that power highly secure, distributed, and cloud-native applications at scale.

This is not a traditional “DevOps” role. We’re looking for engineers who write code, understand systems deeply, and can build and operate Kubernetes environments from the ground up—including on bare metal.

If you enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges, working close to the metal, and building platforms that other engineers depend on—this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Design & build resilient infrastructure to support development, testing, and production across hybrid and multi-cloud environments
  • Own and evolve Kubernetes environments, including bare metal deployments, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and observability
  • Engineer scalable CI/CD systems that enable fast, secure, and repeatable deployments
  • Write production-quality code to automate infrastructure, tooling, and platform capabilities (this is a hands-on engineering role, not just configuration)
  • Drive infrastructure-as-code practices and build reusable, modular systems
  • Implement “shift-left” security principles, embedding security early in the development lifecycle
  • Create clear architecture documentation and standards to scale best practices across teams
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, security, and product teams to design systems that are both developer-friendly and production-ready
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the platform, adopting new technologies where they provide real impact
  • Mentor and elevate the team, helping others grow into strong infrastructure engineers

Why This Role Is Different

  • You’ll work on real infrastructure challenges, not just managed abstractions
  • You’ll build systems from the ground up, including bare metal Kubernetes environments
  • You’ll be part of a team that values engineering depth, ownership, and technical excellence
  • You’ll contribute directly to security-first platforms at the intersection of cloud, infrastructure, and confidential computing

What Makes You a Strong Fit

  • You’re an engineer first—you enjoy coding and solving problems, not just managing tools
  • You have hands-on experience running Kubernetes in real-world environments, ideally including bare metal clusters (not just managed services like EKS/GKE/AKS)
  • You understand systems fundamentals deeply—Linux, networking, containers, and distributed systems
  • You’ve built or significantly contributed to CI/CD pipelines and developer platforms
  • You’re comfortable working across teams and geographies, and can drive projects end-to-end
  • You balance independence with strong collaboration, and care about building the right solution—not just a fast one
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of hands-on engineering experience across infrastructure, systems, or platform engineering
  • Strong Linux systems knowledge
  • Proven programming experience in languages such as Rust (highly preferred), Go, Python, or Ruby
  • Deep understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, gateways, cloud networking)
  • Experience designing and operating Kubernetes clusters, with preference for bare metal or low-level environments
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Technical Experience (You should have several of the following)

  • Kubernetes (including cluster-level operations, not just usage)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
  • CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar)
  • Configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
  • Containerization & virtualization (Docker, KVM, VMware)
  • Monitoring & observability (Prometheus, Nagios, Sensu, etc.)
  • Logging & analytics (Elasticsearch or similar)
    • We offer a competitive salary and equity package
    • Pension with company contribution
    • Quarterly recharge days
    • 40 hours of Volunteer Time Off/year
    • The opportunity to redefine cloud computing in a friendly, collaborative work environment.
