Why This Role Exists

Software engineering is rapidly shifting toward AI-native development—where systems aren’t just written by humans with AI assistance, but where AI becomes part of the architecture itself.

We’re looking for a senior Ruby on Rails engineer who is already exploring this shift.

Not someone who simply uses Copilot or ChatGPT to write code faster—but someone who has been experimenting with AI as a builder, creating systems, workflows, or tools where AI meaningfully changes how software is designed, built, or operated.

If you’ve already gone down the rabbit hole—pushing beyond basic AI-assisted coding and exploring what AI-native engineering could look like—we’d love to talk.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build production Rails applications using AI techniques.
• Explore how AI can meaningfully change the architecture of modern applications.
• Prototype and implement AI-powered workflows, tooling, or product features.
• Integrate AI capabilities into real systems—not just demos.
• Collaborate with a team that’s actively experimenting with how engineering changes in the AI era.

What We’re Looking For

Core Engineering

• 5+ years of professional Ruby on Rails experience.
• Strong fundamentals in system design, testing, background jobs, and scaling applications.
• Ability to ship and maintain production-grade software.

AI Experience

You’ve already experimented with building things using AI in ways that go beyond simple coding assistance.

This could include things like:

• Building tools, workflows, or applications where AI is part of the system architecture
• Creating automated coding workflows or AI-driven developer tooling
• Experimenting with agents, autonomous workflows, or programmatic prompting
• Integrating LLMs into products or internal tooling

We don’t expect a specific stack or framework—but we’re looking for people who are actively exploring what AI-native software development looks like.

What Will Stand Out

We’re especially interested if you can show examples of things you’ve built, such as:

• Tools or applications where AI performs meaningful tasks within the system
• Development workflows that dramatically change how code is written or shipped
• Projects that explore agent-based systems or automated engineering workflows
• Open-source tools or experiments in AI-assisted development

Side projects, prototypes, or experiments are completely welcome.
