As Loft strengthens its activities in the defense and security domain, we are reinforcing our security governance and operational capabilities in France.
We are looking for a Security Officer to support and structure Loft France’s security activities in a growing defense context. This role will serve as the primary security point of contact in France, covering regulatory, clearance, and operational security topics, while working closely with international teams in a fast-moving startup environment.
The Security Officer will combine strong knowledge of security and clearance processes with a practical, hands-on mindset, able to operate effectively in a highly dynamic, international organization.

Act as the main security point of contact for Loft France with authorities, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Manage and oversee security compliance in line with French and European defense regulations.
Ensure proper implementation of security policies, procedures, and controls.
Lead and manage security clearance (habilitation) processes for employees, contractors, and partners.
Interface with relevant authorities on clearance-related topics.
Maintain accurate records and ensure ongoing compliance with clearance requirements.
Support security assessments related to programs, projects, and partnerships in the defense domain.
Contribute to risk analysis, mitigation plans, and incident management.
Work closely with engineering, operations, and program teams to embed security into day-to-day activities.
Operate with a dual reporting line:
Functional reporting to the Loft Security team.
Administrative reporting to Loft France management.
Coordinate with international teams across the US and Europe.
Provide clear status reporting and recommendations to leadership.
Must haves:
- Proven experience in a security, defense, or government-related role (e.g. Security Officer, Facility Security Officer, defense program security).
- Strong knowledge of security clearance processes and regulatory frameworks in France.
- Ability to act as a trusted point of contact with authorities and partners.
- Very hands-on, pragmatic approach; comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Strong communication skills in an international context.
- French citizenship and French security clearance.
- Fluency in English.
Nice to haves:
- Experience in aerospace, space, or high-tech environments.
- Exposure to international defense or dual-use programs.
- Prior experience in a scale-up or startup environment.
