About The Role:
ThoughtSpot is seeking a visionary Vice President of Design to lead and scale our global design organization. ThoughtSpot is on a mission of making the world more data-driven and this role will be crucial in how ThoughtSpot makes this a reality. This role will shape intuitive, AI-powered experiences that democratize data for everyone—from business users to analysts. The ideal candidate has deep experience designing high-tech enterprise products (preferably in BI), scaling distributed teams, and driving design excellence at a strategic level.
Reporting to the SVP of Product, this role will oversee a team of 30+ talented product, UX, and visual designers across US and India. ThoughtSpot’s simple and intuitive user experience has been a strength and this role will carry this forward.
What You'll Do:
Leadership & Strategy - Define and drive the long-term vision for design at ThoughtSpot; serve as a strategic thought partner to Product, Engineering, and Executive Leadership. Lead, scale, and mentor a diverse team of 30+ designers distributed across North America, and India.
Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner deeply with Product Management and Engineering to create intuitive, intelligent, and elegant user experiences. Lead a high-functioning, globally distributed design team—implementing processes and communication strategies that bridge time zones and cultures.
Design Excellence - Champion & promote user-centered design across the organization and take ThoughtSpot’s design leadership to the next level.
Customer Obsession: Infuse deep customer empathy and feedback into every phase of the design and product development lifecycle.
DesignOps & Tools: Ensure the right tooling, AI innovation, workflows, and practices are in place to enable velocity without compromising quality.
What You'll Bring:
15+ years of experience in design, with at least 7+ in leadership roles.
Proven success leading large, distributed design teams across time zones and cultures.
Experience designing enterprise-grade SaaS products; BI or analytics product experience strongly preferred.
Strong systems-thinking approach with a portfolio that showcases elegant UX at scale.
Passion for working in high-growth, fast-paced environments with cross-functional complexity.
Deep understanding of AI/ML-powered interfaces, search-driven UX, and data visualization is a strong plus.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presence.
The estimated annual salary range for this role is $325,000 - $340,000 per year in the San Francisco Bay Area. Actual compensation may vary and is dependent on various factors, including determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location of the selected candidate
