Role Summary
We are looking for a Chief Operations Officer to be the operational engine behind Platzi's growth. This role is for someone who knows how to build and run high-performing teams without defaulting to corporate playbooks someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, and gets things done through clarity and trust rather than process overhead. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will own the day-to-day health of the company, drive cross-functional execution, and help translate bold strategy into real outcomes across every part of the organization.
What You'll Do
- Own the company's operational strategy end-to-end turning vision into execution across Engineering, Product, Finance, People, and Growth Marketing.
- Keep teams aligned and moving fast without over-engineering the process; you build systems that work at the pace the business needs
- Partner with the CEO and board to define and track key business metrics, presenting performance insights and strategic recommendations
- Identify operational bottlenecks before they become crises and drive improvements grounded in data, not instinct alone
- Lead headcount planning, annual budgeting, and resource allocation across departments
- Build and develop leadership teams capable of operating with high autonomy and full accountability
- Thrive in environments where you have to write the playbook as you go, not follow one that already exists
- Represent the company in strategic partner, investor, and customer conversations where operational credibility matters
Qualifications
- 10+ years of senior leadership experience, with at least 3–5 years in a COO, VP of Operations, or equivalent executive role at a technology company
- Proven track record of scaling operations in a high-growth, fast-moving environment — startups or internet-native companies preferred
- Strong analytical mindset; you use data and clear metrics to make decisions and measure what actually matters
- A natural ability to align diverse, autonomous teams around shared goals through direct communication and genuine trust
- Experience managing P&L, financial planning, and headcount allocation across multiple functions
- Comfortable operating with incomplete information and high urgency — you don't wait for perfect conditions to act
- Exceptional communication skills; you can speak candidly to a CEO, a board, and a frontline team in the same day
- Nice to have: experience in edtech or B2C SaaS; familiarity with Latin American markets; exposure to VC or PE-backed environments
