About SafelyYou

SafelyYou’s passionate mission is to empower safer, more person-centered care across senior living through world-leading AI, industry-changing hardware, and remote expert clinicians, significantly improving outcomes for residents while increasing peace of mind for families and reducing costs for communities.

Originating in 2015 as the doctoral research of CEO George Netscher—and inspired by his own family's experience with Alzheimer's disease—SafelyYou was spun out of UC Berkeley’s Artificial Intelligence Research Lab, one of the top five AI research groups in the world. And today, our company is solving critical challenges in senior living, from resident falls and ER visits to staffing concerns, length of stay, and NOI. All helping ensure that communities can focus on improved care for residents while still reaching their financial goals.

SafelyYou is one of five most innovative fall technologies referenced in the Senate Falls Report (2019), a winner of the McKnight’s Tech Partner of the Year, and has been named to Fortune’s Impact 20 list, which recognizes companies making people’s lives better through innovation.

Your Role at SafelyYou

We are seeking a Vice President of People Experience (PX) to serve as a strategic leader and operating partner to the executive team as we scale through our next stage of growth. This role will define and evolve our People strategy, ensuring our culture, leadership, and operating systems scale in a way that strengthens performance, accountability, and employee experience.

SafelyYou is moving from “building the plane while flying it” to creating repeatable systems that support sustained growth. The VP of PX will architect the frameworks, priorities, and operating cadence that allow the People function—and the company—to scale with clarity and intention.

This is a leadership role for someone who can operate at both the strategic and structural level, guiding organizational design, manager capability, talent infrastructure, and culture at scale. You will lead and empower a high-performing PX team to execute effectively while you focus on direction-setting, executive partnership, and organizational leverage.

Key Responsibilities:

Define People Strategy for Scale

  • Own and evolve the company’s People strategy aligned to business goals, growth targets, and long-term operating needs.

  • Translate company strategy into a multi-year roadmap spanning culture, talent, leadership development, performance systems, and employee experience.

  • Establish the frameworks, governance, and prioritization needed to scale sustainably.

Be a Strategic Partner to Executive Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the COO and executive team on organizational health, leadership effectiveness, culture, and scaling risks.

  • Partner with Finance and leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and headcount strategy.

  • Influence decisions on structure, spans/layers, team effectiveness, and leadership development.

  • Stay ahead of people, compliance and or design risks as we scale and partner with execs early to address them.

Build a High-Performance Culture & Leadership Environment

  • Strengthen cultural clarity and accountability as the company grows, ensuring values are operationalized into day-to-day behaviors.

  • Help shape leadership expectations, decision-making standards, and communication rhythms.

  • Identify culture and engagement risks early and guide leadership response.

Strengthen Manager & Leadership Capability

  • Establish scalable manager enablement and leadership development strategy.

  • Ensure managers are equipped to lead performance, deliver feedback, coach effectively, and retain talent.

  • Drive consistent expectations and operational discipline across the management layer.

Modernize the Employee Experience Operating Model

  • Set the strategy for employee lifecycle excellence - from onboarding to career growth to offboarding - ensuring consistent experience and scalable processes.

  • Ensure PX programs are aligned, measurable, and designed for growth, with clear ownership and accountability across the PX organization.

Oversee Total Rewards, Benefits & Payroll (US + Canada)

  • Oversee payroll operations and benefits administration for US and Canadian employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a seamless employee experience.

  • Own vendor relationships across payroll, benefits, and related HR services, including evaluation, renewals, and ongoing performance management.

  • Partner with Finance and executive leadership to evolve a competitive, scalable total rewards strategy, including compensation philosophy, market benchmarking, and benefits design.

  • Ensure all total rewards programs are administered consistently and aligned with company values, retention goals, and business priorities.

  • Monitor regulatory and compliance requirements across US and Canadian jurisdictions and ensure policies and practices remain current.

Operationalize Performance & Talent Systems

  • Guide the design and continuous evolution of performance management frameworks that support clarity, growth, and accountability.

  • Establish approaches for leveling, career development, and progression that can scale across functions.

  • Ensure systems reinforce retention, engagement, and high performance.

Enable and Scale the PX Function

  • Build and lead a strong PX organization, setting direction, operating rhythms, and success metrics.

  • Develop PX leaders and managers to execute effectively, ensuring ownership is distributed and scalable.

  • Establish People analytics and dashboards that measure organizational health and PX impact.

  • Set the direction, priorities and what “good” looks like for PX, while empowering the team to own execution and outcomes.

Oversee Talent Acquisition to Drive Hiring Scalability

  • Ensure hiring processes and workforce planning scale with quality and speed.

  • Strengthen hiring manager capability, structured interview practices, and candidate experience standards.

  • Develop and refine dashboards on the hiring funnel and conversions to goal

  • Create clarity and consistency in how we hire, from expectations of hiring managers to how we think about speed, quality and tradeoffs as we grow.

What Success Looks Like

Within 12–18 months, you will have:

  • Built a scalable People strategy aligned to company growth and financial goals.

  • Strengthened executive leadership effectiveness and organizational alignment.

  • Increased manager capability and performance consistency across the organization.

  • Established clear frameworks for performance, career growth, and progression.

  • Enabled a PX team that operates with clarity, ownership, and measurable impact.

  • Improved employee experience and retention through scalable systems—not one-off programs.

Who You Are

  • A strategic People leader who can operate as a business partner, not just a program owner.

  • Experienced scaling organizations through high-growth phases (ideally Series B/C/D).

  • Skilled at influencing executives and driving alignment across teams.

  • Strong systems thinker with the ability to design scalable frameworks.

  • Able to balance culture stewardship with performance expectations.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, change, and rapid scaling environments.

  • Strong coach and leader who builds leaders within the People function.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in People leadership roles (People Ops, PX, HRBP, Total Rewards, Talent Strategy).

  • Proven experience designing People strategy and scaling organizations through rapid growth.

  • Experience building performance management, manager enablement, and organizational effectiveness frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of People systems and operations (HRIS/ATS) with the ability to guide scalable architecture.

  • Track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
