About Tennr:

Today, when you go to your doctor and need to be referred to a specialist (e.g., for sleep apnea), your doctor sends a fax (yes, in 2024, 90% of provider-provider communication is a 1980s fax). These are often converted into 20+ page PDFs, with handwritten (doctor’s handwriting!) notes, in thousands of different formats. The problem is so complex that a person has to read it, type it up, and manually enter your information. Tennr built RaeLLM™ (7B—trained on 3M+ documents) to read these docs, talk to your doc to ensure nothing is missed, and text you to help schedule your appointment so you can get better, faster.

Tennr is a NYC-based tech company that launched out of Y-Combinator and is backed by Andreesen Horowitz, Foundation Capital, The New Normal Fund, and other top investors.

About the role:

The first thing to understand is how Healthcare providers make their money.

Healthcare providers primarily make their money from insurance reimbursements on the services they provide to patients. Insurance companies are hard-nose businesses though and their goal is to minimize how much they pay out.

We are looking for a product owner to drive action on our new Payor Coordination product team and make sure our customers are getting paid for the care they’re delivering to patients!! To succeed in this paperwork war, you need to be creative, resourceful, technical, and most of all stubborn in your pursuit.

Specifically, you’ll work on Tennr's products related to insurance qualification proof cases, eligibility and benefits verification, submission and status updates of prior authorizations, and ruleset maintenance associated with changing guidelines.

This is an extremely cross-functional, high impact role. You will be working closely with our Front End, Infrastructure, and Integrations Engineering Teams as well as our Solutions Architects and Customer Success Managers to make sure our product is effectively driving reimbursement for our customers. Expect to be on customer facing calls leading discovery, educating on best practices, and explaining Tennr’s edge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the Development of Payor Coordination Processes: Oversee the entire lifecycle of reimbursement-related workflows, including insurance qualification proof cases, eligibility and benefits verification, submission and status updates of prior authorizations, and ruleset maintenance.

  • Keep the Product Up to Date with the Latest Insurance Guidelines: Ensure the product is up to date with changing insurance and reimbursement guidelines so that Tennr’s products remain compliant and effective for our customers.

  • Execute on Product Strategy: Execute the vision and strategic direction for the Payor Coordination product suite, aligning with Tennr’s business objectives and addressing customer needs in reimbursement collection.

  • Understand Provider Personas: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and document workflows for various provider personas involved in the reimbursement process.

  • Gather Cross-Functional Requirements: Partner with implementation and customer-facing teams to gather detailed product requirements, ensuring they are integrated into the product roadmap. Clearly document and communicate product specifications to engineering and design teams to facilitate effective and accurate product development.

  • Monitor Insights & Performance: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of Payor Coordination products in driving reimbursement collection. Work with data and analytics teams to monitor product performance, identify areas for improvement, and uncover opportunities for innovation and optimization.

  • Create a Strong Customer Feedback Loop: Continuously collect feedback from customers to understand pain points and areas for enhancement in the reimbursement process. Convert customer insights into concrete product improvements and feature enhancements to better support reimbursement collection from payors.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of product management experience, preferably in SaaS, healthcare technology, or document processing systems. Experience with EHR or other healthcare-related systems is highly desirable.

  • Healthcare Reimbursement Experience: Experience with payor reimbursement products and technologies is a massive plus.

  • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of document management systems, data extraction, and workflow automation technologies. Familiarity with integration into third-party systems such as EHRs is a plus.

  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to leverage data to make informed decisions, drive prioritization, and assess product performance. Experience defining and tracking product success metrics.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Exceptional collaboration skills, working cross-functionally with engineering, sales, operations, and other stakeholders to achieve common goals. Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal, is critical.

  • Customer-Centric Mindset: Experience in identifying and solving customer pain points through product development. Passion for improving document workflows to enhance customer experiences.

  • Leadership: Ability to lead without formal authority, inspire teams, and drive consensus in a fast-paced environment.

  • Agile Methodology: Hands-on experience with Agile product development practices, including sprint planning, backlog management, and rapid iteration.
