TrustLab is building the trust and safety layer that enables AI agents to be deployed responsibly, as well as other scalable AI solutions, at global scale. We develop and deploy advanced autonomous AI systems that monitor, evaluate and observe agents during development and in production. The Impact

You are part of a team that is responsible for some of the most critical components of our AI centric tech stack. You define and deploy central parts of our global platform that evaluates cutting edge customer AI systems at scale. You will work as part of our global technical leadership team to push the boundaries of what’s possible with state of the art AI Tech, and deep commitment to customer success and creating industry leading solutions.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build high-performance backend systems that support AI-driven workflows and large-scale data processing. You’ll work on distributed services, APIs, and core infrastructure powering mission-critical products.

This role requires strong backend fundamentals, production-grade Python experience, and the ability to think in system, not just endpoints.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services in Python
  

• Architect APIs and microservices with clean, maintainable abstractions
  

• Work with large datasets and asynchronous processing pipelines
  

• Optimize performance, reliability, and observability
  

• Contribute to system design discussions and technical roadmap decisions
  

• Collaborate closely with frontend and AI/ML engineers
  

• Write production-quality, testable, secure code
  

• Participate in code reviews and uphold a high engineering bar
  

What We’re Looking For

Core Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
  

• Strong production experience in Python (FastAPI, Django, Flask, or similar)
  

• Experience designing RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures
  

• Solid understanding of databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and query optimization
  

• Experience with async processing, queues (SQS, Kafka), or event-driven systems
  

• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and performance
  

Bonus points:

• Experience working with coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar) is a strong plus

• Experience deploying and operating services on AWS (or another major cloud provider) is a strong plus.

• Experience building or integrating AI agent systems (LLM workflows, tool-use, orchestration frameworks, or evaluation pipelines) is a plus
